“I was a young mother and because of this my parenting has always been questioned and even to this day it still is. When my oldest started showing behaviors, instead of getting support I was judged, isolated, blamed and in reality alone. Not even my parents, his grandparents could understand the journey I was about to begin. For years I walked this journey alone with little to no support until I found a community that offered support. Because of this support I realized I was no longer alone, I wasn’t the only parent raising children with complex needs and that there was a whole community who had felt like I had at one point in time, or still do and have yet to discover the amazing benefits of finally being heard, seen and being supported the way we have yearned for, needed and dreamed of.”

System of Care Governance
In Oregon, our child and youth serving systems changes are led by local and regional Systems of Care Governance Committees. These committees are made up of youth and families, service providers, state agencies, and care coordination organizations throughout the state.

Coordinated Care Organizations
About
A coordinated care organization is a network of all types of healthcare providers (physical health care, addictions and mental health care and dental care providers) who work together in their local communities to serve people who receive health care coverage under the Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid). CCOs focus on prevention and helping people manage chronic conditions, like diabetes. This helps reduce unnecessary emergency room visits and gives people support to be healthy.
